Scotland

The first day of our backpacking trek yesterday was just that... A trek of proportions we weren't expecting. A supposed 23 mile (which quickly turned into a 35 mile) journey from Strathcarron to Kinlochewe took 15 hours of rainy, slippery hiking that was very scenic, but very dangerous. This May has been unsesasonably wet for the countryside, and thus the boggs and rivers we were hiking across held more danger than we (or the countless other hikers we saw on the train back today) were planning on. So, we are bailing on our plan to hike all the way to Cape Wrath. But the bail plan is also pretty great: since we now have 10 days in Europe before we meet my mom in London, we are planning on visiting Amsterdam and Berlin as well as first stopping in Edinburgh for the night and through tomorrow. So there will be more city pictures than nature, but hey we asked for an adventure, and we are definitely getting one. More to come!

I followed that blue rain tarp for so long I literally dreamt about it last night.

The ONLY river out of 10 large ones we crossed on a bridge.
